GOOD OVER EVIL

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

The homey Andy came in to finish off his sleeve of the classic theme, good vs. evil, with a classic image of the Arch Angel Michael.

You see alot of people these days slapping on this specific scene, and people using and abusing this sacred composition like it was trendy clothes.Raphael , student of Michelangelo and DaVinci was one of the first known people to develop this image into a painting. A life’s work of studying evolved this scene over time and allowed others to interpret what went down in the end of the world..

Alot of people mistake the devil as God’s counterpart, but according to Christians, God sent the devil down to test the faith of  humans. In the end the evil had corrupted all of earth and God had to send down Michael to lead the 7 angels to fuck everyone up! I’m not a  Christian  but I have to give it to the bible, they do not fuck around.

Here’s one you might recognize:   Ezekiel 25:17

“The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother’s keeper . And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brother. And you will know my name is the Lord when I strike my vengeance upon thee.”

Edgar came in the AM to finish off his old school La Virgen De Guadalupe. He wanted to keep the traditional look of the orginal image except the hands contributing to his new born baby girl, Emily.

FLOWERS

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

A recap on Tanya who came through not too long ago to start her piece in memorial to her man who recently passed and to symbolize the things she went through that followed.

The flowers symbolize the beauty and growth, and the lady bug (upper left) to symbolize her man. This piece still needs another sitting, here is a closer look..

I got to hand it to the ladies once again for going ALL out! More and more girls are getting serious with their ink and side pieces that are this involved can never fall into a category of “trendy”. On the more accurate tip-these girls have evolved into women and the pieces hold a deep spiritual bearing. Ladies, I salute you.

PATIENCE

Friday, March 6th, 2009

The homey Buyo came in to begin his lower sleeve. I have to salute the great Chuey, Pint and Bob Tyrell for helping the foundation to understand an alternative approach to black n grey. This was a unique approach compared to other pieces…

Watching these specific men work can put you in a trance, and when really paying attention to process varies widely among other black n grey artist. A very patient orientated way of manipulating ink, results=so far so good, the sleeve still needs the upper portion, stay tuned.
