MIDDLE EARTH
Wednesday, February 18th, 2009
Jesus came through to add in the middle portion of his sleeve we’ve been working on. Although the session was a quickie compared to the other pieces, the middle bending point of the arm tends to be one of the most sensitive spots. But the homey pulled through like a champ. Check it out..

Here is a close shot, at the very basic stage of progression. This type of layering technique perfected and formulated by the masters Jose, Booth, and Tyrell, is almost like the glazing of oils on canvas, except trade in the turpentine for fresh blood. Below is what we started some time back..

Haring
Tuesday, February 17th, 2009
Check out this piece by the late Keith Haring that’s hung up in auschwitz, I mean Art Center’s center building. Haring has always been big influence in just his approach and mentality towards the work. There was always room for external voices to distort him and his work but a man like Haring never let shit like that stop him. Take a peep…

“I don’t think art is propaganda; it should be something that liberates the soul, provokes the imagination and encourages people to go further. It celebrates humanity instead of manipulating it.”-Keith Haring

CUP OF SOULS
Sunday, February 15th, 2009
Another tattooed Saturday, first Noel flew in from San Francisco to finish his chest plate connected to his sleeve we started some time back.

Quetzalcoatl the notorious Aztec serpent sculpture is what we used to work the chest. Chest pieces are always rough especially with the nerves, bones and different muscles tied up all in one spot, not to mention the overall size of the piece, but the big homey Noel took it like a soldier!

And his sleeve above is where we made the transition from, the Aztec woman (lower) holding up the cup of souls that the serpent is coming out from through the Aztec soldier (upper). Thanks goes out to Noel for making the trip.

So here’s crazy Kelly’s healed shot, to recap she came in a few sessions ago with the script on the hip and wanted to expand the terrain. She came in to satisfy my OCD, and let it do it’s thing on the remaining details. Keep moving Kelly.

And we ended with Rockie’s upper back next to the sleeve with his kids. We chose the classic image of the Virgin Mary, holding baby Christ to watch over his kids and his back. Images like the old masters renaissance are always a process to deliver, every detail and tones got to specific to their process. This piece still needs another good long session. Thanks to the homey Rockie!

EAGLE TRIPPIN
Friday, February 13th, 2009
An old time friend Stevey came through and started his full back piece. He first started off by working his last name across the back and wanted to go all out with the famous Helguera mexican eagle image. We still have a long ways to go, heres a peek at the piece. The second read of the outline of the Mexican territory is what made this image unique, stay posted to see it with a third, fourth and fith read.

Thanks goes out to big Stevey.
