CHUCO PART 1

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Check out this clip of some of the studio work I’ve been working on, much thanks to Tiimo . The big homie Chuco, a tattoo collector veteran and longtime inspiration to the tattoo industry who had passed away not too long ago was my subject, and I start out with the basic rough understudy, done with charcoal on toned paper. Stay posted to check out the painting. ( Be sure to click on the HQ icon to view clip in high quality!) Thanks Chuco, ride in peace.

Immortal

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Not too long ago, Max came to repair his sleeve he started several years earlier in his life. He  walked in with an “L.A.” on his arm and decided to go the cultural route with this…

max1

…this is about the third session final stage, layering the images of the Aztec and Spaniard symbols. Max wanted to retain his current LA state of mind, but add a little history to it, heres what his arm had on him prior to  the sleeve…

max3

…sorry no before pics, this is the second healed session with the LA untouched…

max2

…and a close-up of the final session, LA blacked out….. recognize this face?? I felt a little inspiration from the Persian Immortal’s big ass monster soldier from 300, we flipped him up to the Aztec flavor. Thanks goes out to Max, see you soon!

THERAPY

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Sorry for the lag, Art Center is starting to pick-up its rhythm, and the studio work is going simultaneously, so I had to retreat with some painting..

paint3

…the painting process is always therapeutic, this study and the one below are some  quick portrait studies..

paint2

…doing these things over and over again still doesn’t beat the peace that comes from doing them, check out Cheetham’s line-up..

TATTOO TONY

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

tattootony

TATTOO TONY is not only a good friend, father and artist, he’s also one my great influences to tattooing. Tattoo Tony has deep lifestyle history, and was one of the first along with Toons to change the dynamic of Los Angeles tattooing in Japan as well as back home. Check  out this portrait he did a while back..

…be sure to seek him out at the upcoming shows with Lowrider this year!
